Another great feature is a direct CSS link. For example if I need to duplicate a bootstrap row, I don't need to select the code, I just select the DOM element in the tree and hit duplicate, then I can just insert it anywhere else in the DOM tree and DW takes care of the actual code copying and inserting. I get a visual representation of the whole DOM tree. For example I can make changes to my code at a much higher level then source. But I also think DW has a great way of working with DOM. Just code and your site will reflect the changes in realtime. The FTP client is pretty straighforward it uploads directly to server on every file save, you set it up once and never have to open FileZilla again. However as an editor I think it's very much underappreciated. But that's the common perception, that's its a WYSIWYG editor, but it's literally almost impossible to use it's drag and drop features and create anything usable. The reason for it not being popular is I think more to do with it's psychological perception, for example at work, god forbid that I mention that I use dreamweaver, people will immediately think that I don't know how to code and I just drag and drop elements, which is absolutely not the proper workflow in dreamweaver. I'm aware that you can install extensions and probably customize the other editors enough to rival DW but why even bother? Just those things alone make it seem like other editors are just simple notepads. A property window of attributes (if you forget the name of the attribute, just look for it in the properties and set it there). Code completion is superb, visual selection of code sections that are associated, complete DOM tree with the ability to change ids/classes and seeing the overall structure on the fly. Dreamweaver hands down surpasses any single one of these. However after trying these I don't understand what all the fuss is about. I've been using Dreamwaver for coding html/css/JS for about a year and just don't understand why people aren't using it more and even go as far as to say that it's obsolete? To be fair I decided on trying out some newer editors to use and I've tried probably over 4 different ones - Notepad++, Brackets, Atom, VSCode. /r/programmerhumor - (post your memes here instead)./r/freelance (discussion related to freelancing)./r/learnjavascript (any JavaScript questions).Questions in violation of this rule will be removed or locked.
